Before the school, there was a hospital on this site. In 1907 Dr. Louis
Pfandhoefer (educated in his native Germany), the first physician in
Falls City , began to build a 32' X 42' hospital on the site above the
river, just east of where the present high school is now. Much later in
1920, contractors broke ground for the stucco-faced Mission Historic
Period Revival Falls City High School, described at that time as an
"architectural beauty".. The two-storey building enclosed 10,088 square
feet, which included the basement. Construction was completed the
following year. Ninteen Falls City students comprized the first
graduating class, in 1922.
