Mrs. Anna Swinney of Grants Pass, is visiting the families of H. A. and J. A. Bowman. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lowe returned to their home in Portland, Thursday of last week. Glenn Huntley, of Independence is in charge of the Johnson cleaning and pressing parlor. Jonah Lowe and son Ira and daughter Mrs. Vina Miller went to Portland last Monday. Merl Potter, F. C. L. Ellis property and will move to Falls City in a few days. H. A. Bowman is having a new porch built on the front of his house. R. S. Ferguson is doing the fine work. A. G. Lineback is having a new bungalow built on his property in Southeast Falls City. Elle & Elle are the builders. G. W. Kendoll's family moved to Ballston this week. Mr. Kendoll has been employed there for a long time, on a ranch. Supervisor A. Sampson, with a crew of workmen, is reparing the Black Rock road where it was damaged by land slides. Mr. and Mrs. Rice of Black Rock went to California Thursday, for a vacation. Mr. Rice is car repairer for the S. P. Ry. Co. The handbag found by F. C. Thomas of Rocca near Powell's old logging camp, Dec. 24, and advertised in The News Dec. 27, belonged to Mrs. Horne, and has been delivered to her at the Falls City Co.'s logging camp, by Bob Bradley. George Durham and wife left for North Yakima to visit his relatives, Thursday. Irving Matthews of Portland, was in town Friday and Saturday of last week. While here he repaired the footbridge. The Falls City Lumber Co. has put up an 1800-foot cable over a canyon in the woods for use as a trolly for carrying logs. For Sale - 160 acre wheat ranch in Sherman Co., Or. Frink became quite ill on Friday evening of last week, and was confined to his bed for several days. He is now able to be up again. By unanimous vote, last Sunday the congregation of the Christian church decided to employ Rev. Lee Sadler for another year as minister. Clarence Powell went to Oregon City last Saturday for a week-end visit with his family who have been visiting relatives there during the holidays. There have been several cave-ins on the Black Rock road during the recent rains. Supervisor A. Sampson will do some work on the road to make it passable. Mr. and Mrs. A. Sampson returned from the Siletz Monday evening, where they had been visiting their son-in-law Jas. Wright, who has been seriously ill. R. M. and L. B. Wonderly were down in Benton county, south of Airlie, the first of the week, making an estimate on a new school house in district No. 30. Mayor Hubbard represented the Falls City council in the matter of the lease of the rock crusher, at the meeting of the county commissioners, Wednesday of last week. Mrs. C. W. Lee went to the hospital at Salem, Tuesday, where she will be given medical treatment. Mrs. Halsey accompanied Mrs. Lee, and returned home Wednesday. Mrs. Vina Miller, of Vickeryville, Mich., who was here several weeks during the sickness and death of her mother, Mrs. Jonah Lowe, will return to her home in a few days. Sam Wiest the famous foreman of Spaulding's Black Rock logging camps, has been in Falls City all week, gathering workingmen for the camp, which is to be opened about Jan. 19. There is a large crowd making arrangements to attend the K. of P. ball at Falls City the 23rd. Lloyd Rice and Herman Hawkins were visitors at Falls City Sunday - Dallas Observer. W. E. Potter has traded his 73 acres east of town for land in Umatilla county, and will move to Hermiston next week. Fred E. Wells, the new owner, will not move here until next September. Mrs. H. E. Collins returned home from Falls City where she had visited for a week with her daughter, Mrs. C. E. McDonald. The two weeks special services proved very beneficial, everyone who was interested was helped and a number were converted. As pastor I wish to thank those who supported and encouraged the work by their attendance and financial aid. Tomorrow the result of the collection contest will be announced at Sunday School. The largest collection for last Sunday was $1.75 from the Scout class. Business and social meeting of the Epworth League tonight (Sat.)
