 NEW FALLS CITY BRIDGE TO OUST 5 BUSINESSES .....Falls City (Special) - Construction of a modern reinforced concrete bridge across the Little Luckiamute River at Falls City will require all or part of five business properties near the center of the city. .....Properties required for the right-of-way, which will be acquired by the city, are real estate and improvements belonging to Otto Heider, Floyd French, Lenora Dickinson, H. W. Koehler and Bert Kimber. .....Some of these properties are said to be in litigation and Fay Wilson, city recorder, is of the opinion that condemnation by Polk County may be necessary in order to acquire legally some of the needed right-of-way. .....The new bridge will not occupy the position of the old structure, said to have been built in 1908. Instead it will extend from the town's main street to Valsetz road at an angle to conform to modern traffic standards. .....Cost of the structure is estimated to be near $50,000 and construction may begin shortly after right-of-way is obtained in the immediate future. |
