Falls City Notes / Dorothy Cassidy
Did all of you parents survive Spring Break? It is amazing how much of our lives revolve around our kids and their schedules.
Everything seemed so quiet at the schools. As a youngster I always wanted the time off, but I must admit I was glad when it was over. Of course, where I grew up it was a lot like the Falls City area. We always had lots of tree forts to build and then there was the fun of climbing on the hay bales in the old barn.
I can hear you thinking -- yes, it was dangerous. And yes, we were forbidden to do it. Living where we did, my parents would have locked us in the house if they had known all the things we did.
I am sure parents are happy the break is over. Thank you, teachers!

Elizabeth Stout had surgery on her hand this past week. Our thoughts are with her and we hope she'll recover quickly. I am sure Herman is praying for that, too. Can you cook with one hand Elizabeth?

Dorothy Rosenblum has had a rough winter this year. She has had several physical problems to contend with. Just when she thought she was getting through all of it, she fell and injured her shoulder. We appreciate Dorothy for all of her volunteer work with the Good News Club at the elementary school.
Spring is here Dorothy -- with hopes and prayers that you will recover soon.

I have some bad (or good) news, depending whether you enjoy technology or not. I guess I was misinformed about the tower at the elementary school. I have been told that it has nothing to do with cell phone reception after all -- that it is supposed to enhance the ability of the schools to network their computers.
Still technology, just a different aspect of it. I must admit, I am not much of a technology "junky." I avoid it as much as I can. I still am not able to understand how telephones work.
I am sure I am "technologically challenged." When my sons talk to me about my computer or the internet (I use it when I have to) it sounds like they're speaking another language. I have dug in my heels in resistance as long as could, but I am afraid it is all here to stay.

I think all of us gardeners have an internal plant magnet. Is it hard for you to walk or drive past a plant stand? When I moved to this house I told myself and others that I was not going to go "plant crazy" this time. I am really trying, but I have been only partially successful.
I know I won't be able to resist when the Garden Club has their plant sale on April 29 at Mountain Gospel Fellowship church. You won't want to miss it. I got some very interesting plants last year.

I know it is a hassle at times -- like when you show up an hour late -- but I love the longer daytime hours Daylight Saving Time brings. I appreciate our "neck of the woods" so much and can get out and enjoy the outdoors more.
I hope you have the opportunity to do that this next week. I hope you take the opportunity to give someone a smile or kind word of encouragement too.
Until next time, blessings on your house.
